Questions about Photo Sessions

What happens if it rains on my session day?

We wait until the day of your shoot to cancel because the weather forecast in Alabama tends to change constantly. If we do have to cancel, though, we’ll simply reschedule.

Can I choose the style of hair and makeup for my session if I book through you?

Yes! We work with talented hair and makeup artists who are here to make you beautiful and happy with your look. Work with us prior to your session so we can offer suggestions. But know – your look can be as natural or dramatic as you want!

What happens if I need to reschedule my session at the last minute?

We totally get it. Life is hectic! You can reschedule your session, free of charge, TWO WEEKS OR MORE prior to your shoot date. After this period, you pay a $100 rescheduling fee for the photography session and $20 rescheduling fee for a hair and makeup session.

How many outfits can I wear for “one look”?

For our studio, “one look” (such as natural light, bed of roses, urban, etc.) is one location…one vive…one set. This means, you are welcome to wear multiple outfits in one location! If my team and I have to set up a different set or drive to another place, though, that is considered a separate look. Our latest pricing guide is based on the number of locations + outfits; we did this to simplify the booking process.

Questions about Digital Files

What is a digital file?

It is a common format for storing and sharing photos over the internet. You’ll see in our pricing guide phrases like “one digital file.” That means, one finished photo will be shared with you through a link in an email to you.

How long are the WeTransfer downloads active?

WeTransfer is the company I use to share digital files with you. The download link is active for one month. After that, there is a $25 charge for resending the WeTransfer link.

What comes, or is included, with a digital file?

A digital file is one file…one finished photo…one pose…one image. Each session comes with a set number of digital files included in the price. After your photo session, we’ll review the best images of you that I captured. From there, you’ll select which image – or images – you want delivered as a digital file. You are always welcome to buy extra digital files. (For example, if your photo session includes 1 digital file in the price, but you see 3 images you can’t live without, simply purchase the 2 extra digital files. Happy clients do it all of the time!)

Where should I download the digital files once I receive them?

Such an important question! First, I recommend downloading the files immediately after receiving the link for safekeeping. Second, downloading on a computer is best for printing, media guides, yearbooks, etc. (Saving to a computer keeps the full size – every detail – of the file, ensuring a better-quality photo.) Files saved to a phone or emailed are compressed and should NOT be used for printing. They are great, however, for showing to grandparents, besties, on social media, etc. But, they’re not good for official uses.

Can I print the pictures I purchase as digital files?

Definitely! You have printing rights to those purchased files.

Can I share the pictures on social media?

Of course! I love when you share my work on social media. (And tagging my business is even better! It brings more great clients like you.) However, out of courtesy of my art, I ask you to not use filters or to crop my images.

How long do you store the files from my session?

I try to store every session in my archives forever. But, I can’t guarantee that my backups will work, and the images may be lost after 12 months.

How long does it take to receive my digital file(s)?

For a 30-minute photo session with 5 or less digital files purchased, expect a one-week turnaround. For longer photo sessions, the turnaround time is about 4 weeks on average.
Questions about Products and Payment

How many pictures come in a book or album?

Twenty images – one per page – is a standard book or album. Additional pages, with one image per page, can be added for $45 each.

How long does it take to receive my photo products?

For a 30-minute photo session with 5 or less digital files purchased, the turnaround for digital files or another photo product is about one week. For longer photo sessions, the turnaround is around 4 weeks.

Are frames extra?

Sometimes. Frame prices ARE INCLUDED in our portrait pricing. However, if you choose a double stack or extra-large frame, there is an additional charge. We’ll discuss frames, and any extra charges, as we review your images in your ordering session.

When is payment due for booking a photo session?

Payment is always due before your session. We ask for 50% at your consultation and then the remaining portion one day before your session. We offer payment plans if you require more time. Please mention that in our contact form when you book a consultation so we can give you the information.
